Welcome to the
Chani Turner RM BSc (Hons) Acupuncture Lic Ac MBAcC.
I hope this website provides the
information you need to have an understanding of acupuncture; and to
help you make an informed choice about your treatment.
I am Chinese and I work as a
traditional acupuncturist practising the integrated approach of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Elements Constitutional
I worked at Poole Hospital NHS
Foundation Trust for 45 years from 1971 to 2016. I started my career as
a state registered nurse for 17 years before training in 1988 to become
a registered midwife. I worked as a midwife for 28 years until my
retirement in 2016.
In November 2002, I was sponsored
by Poole Hospital Trust to do a 3+ year degree in acupuncture at The
College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, Reading, part of Kinston
University. I qualified with a BSc in Acupuncture with First Class
As part of my continuous
professional development, I attend up-to-date training days/courses
including treatment of fertility, pregnancy, Five Elements acupuncture
in particular treatment of stress-related conditions and emotional
illnesses, muscular skeletal workshops, and many others.
October 2013, I had an extraordinary opportunity to join 13
acupuncturists on a study trip in acupuncture at the National Province
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Hospital in Guangzhou, China.
Acupuncture is the mainstream healthcare system in Guangzhou and the
National Province TCM Hospital serves approximately 2000 patients a day.
I had the chance to work with some of the best professors in acupuncture
and the hospital provided endless opportunities to learn many aspects of
Chinese Medicine in much detail. This amazing experience inspired me
immensely. I use some of the Guangzhou techniques regularly and my
patients have reported many positive results of their treatments.
