WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? Acupuncture needles are much finer than needles used for injections or blood tests. When a needle is inserted, the sensation is often described as a tingling, or a dull ache or just a feeling of warmth or heaviness. Depending on your symptoms, specific acupuncture points are chosen at different parts of your body. Needles are inserted and they may be left insitu for 10-20 minutes or removed immediately. Your pulse will be checked regularly throughout the treatment. During treatment, patients often experience a pleasant feeling of relaxation.
